POSITION SUMMARY

WEConnect International is seeking a Communications Consultant who will be responsible for the creation and implementation of targeted communications strategies and campaigns. This role involves various tasks that contribute to the enhancement of our digital public relations efforts across Nigeria, South Africa, and Kenya. The consultant will also play a crucial role in thought leadership and stakeholder engagement to help generate leads for our programs and annual conference in South Africa.

Level: Senior Level Consultant (Contractor) 

Location: Flexible 

Reporting to: Regional Director for Africa 

Duration: Six Months 



OPPORTUNITY

Reporting to the Regional Director for Africa, the consultant will establish and execute a communications strategy to advance the organization’s regional brand in line with WEConnect International strategic objectives.



The role requires exceptional strategic, collaborative, creative and communication skills to:

  • interact with corporate members,

  • market leads, foundations,

  • government officials, and

  • women-owned businesses globally.




Responsibilities:


Platform Review and Insight Generation

  • Perform an extensive review of all regional communication mediums including social media, website, email, and printed materials.

  • Extract valuable insights from the review to assess current performance and highlight potential improvement areas.

  • Delve into the current messaging, level of audience interaction, and overall brand consistency to develop sustainable communications strategy that supports overall mission and lead generation for regional programs and conferences.


Content Development and Coordination

  • Spearhead the creation of content for major platforms, drawing from the insights gained during the review.

  • Collaborate with team members and clients on a global scale to gather and produce content, particularly for social media videos.

  • Ensure that all content is consistent with refined brand guidelines, emphasizing the relationships between Women Owned Businesses, Member Buyers, and inclusive sourcing initiatives.

  • Collaborate with global team to support and execute global brand campaigns and ensure regional channels are aligned with global brand standards.


Content Implementation and Maintenance

  • Collaborate with the WEConnect International global marketing and communications team to distribute content across various channels including social media, website, and email.

  • Manage the upkeep of regional social media accounts, adhering to established guidelines for activity.

  • Oversee the management of relevant web pages to ensure content updates and enhancements are made in line with site analytics to boost traffic and conversion rates.

  • Administer digital communication campaigns across email, web, and social media platforms, ensuring timely development and implementation of editorial calendars.


Targeted Campaigns and Engagement with Stakeholders

  • Partner with the WEConnect International team to design and launch focused campaigns aimed at engaging key stakeholders.

  • Manage and execute regional marketing and communications campaigns, including project management, execution of marketing/communications tactics, stakeholder communications, and adherence to timelines.

  • Ensure the inclusion of member events and utilize proactive storytelling to highlight organizational initiatives, such as fundraising efforts and success stories.

  • Build and maintain relationships with important media contacts and partners.

  • Identify compelling story angles for outreach and manage media relations effectively.

  • Ensure visual brand consistency and marketing efforts for the annual conference in South Africa, particularly in the creation and distribution of electronic and printed materials.


Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting

  • Utilize various tools to collect data and measure the impact of campaigns and content.

  • Develop digital marketing metrics and reports to showcase the effectiveness of communication strategies.




QUALIFICATIONS

 

  •  Experience designing and executing communications strategies aligned with organizational goals.

  •  Relationship building skills, especially with media outlets.

  •  Superior writing, verbal, and public speaking skills.

  •  Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

  •  Strong analytical and problem solving skills.

  •  Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  •  Experience with website content management systems and marketing technology tools.






EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

 

  •  Bachelor’s Degree in Public Relations, Communications, Business, or related field, or equivalent experience.

  •  Minimum of five years of digital marketing, communications, and business development experience.

  •  Experience in a leadership role within a mission focused nonprofit organization.

  •  Experience working with a global, multilingual, and multicultural team.
