Under general supervision, leads a team of individuals, coordinates team activities and personally performs a variety of duties involving receiving, loading, unloading, distributing, storing and moving materials. Reviews / prepares work orders and gives / receives verbal instructions to identify material or containers to be moved and determine destination location. Completes all required documents and communicates effectively with team members and management. Safely loads, moves and unloads material or containers in accordance with instructions and applicable material handling procedures. May involve counting, weighing, and recording number of units of material received, transported, or present in a given location using paper documents or other method. Handles, transports and stores material as necessary to ensure compliance with all applicable requirements regarding product temperature, storage and handling requirements. Properly identifies and interprets information provided on material labels, tags, and container markings. Rotates stock as necessary to ensure product is allocated for use in accordance with proper facility storage and rotation procedures. May involve operation of motorized fork truck, hoist, or other lifting / transport tools. As necessary, performs the functions and duties of subordinate personnel.
Workers should be able to: Follow specific directions; read and interpret product labels, perform a variety of duties which may often change; work within standards of accuracy; repeat tasks of short duration according to a set procedure; evaluate information using measurable standards. Physically, workers must be able to: Stand or walk for long periods; use arms and hands to reach for, handle, and manipulate objects; lift and carry materials weighing 50 to 100 pounds; climb up and down ladders, scaffolds, and other objects and carry tools and equipment; stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl, and see (naturally or with correction). Operate powered lift and transport equipment; work effectively in assigned areas/conditions.Preferred: High school diploma / GED equivalent, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, and three (3) years to six (6) years related experience. Requires the job knowledge, skill level and physical ability necessary to perform assigned job functions.Prior Military and/or Contingency Operations experience preferred.Candidate must possess TB Med 530 - Tri Service Food Code license/certification at time of hire and maintain TB Med 530 - Tri Service Food Code license/certification for the duration of employment.
