About the Role:
We are looking for an accomplished and highly motivated Head of Sales to spearhead our sales efforts across Kenya, focusing on both secured and unsecured lending products. This senior leadership role will involve developing and executing a strategic sales plan to drive revenue growth, leading a high-performing sales team, and expanding our market presence. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in sales management, a deep understanding of the financial services industry, and a proven track record of exceeding sales targets.
Key Responsibilities:
  1. Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement a comprehensive sales strategy to achieve and surpass sales targets, focusing on both secured and unsecured lending products across Kenya.
  2. Team Leadership: Lead, recruit, and mentor a high-performing sales team, including internal staff and independent agents, ensuring alignment with the company’s strategic goals.
  3. Market Expansion: Identify and capitalize on new market opportunities, driving customer acquisition and product adoption across diverse market segments.
  4. Relationship Management: Establish and maintain strong relationships with key clients, partners, and agents, ensuring their needs are met while driving product satisfaction and loyalty.
  5. Collaboration: Work closely with marketing, product development, and customer service teams to create a cohesive and effective sales strategy that aligns with broader business objectives.
  6. Sales Performance: Monitor, analyze, and report on sales performance metrics, making data-driven adjustments to strategies and tactics to optimize outcomes.
  7. Sales Excellence: Set and uphold high standards for sales presentations, proposals, and negotiations, ensuring consistency and professionalism across all sales activities.
  8. Training and Development: Design and implement sales training programs to equip the salesforce with the knowledge and skills needed to excel in their roles and achieve their targets.
  9. Performance Management: Conduct regular performance reviews and sales meetings, providing coaching and feedback to drive continuous improvement and excellence.
  10. Financial Oversight: Manage sales budgets effectively, ensuring resources are allocated efficiently to maximize return on investment.
  11. Market Intelligence: Stay abreast of industry trends, competitor offerings, and market dynamics to inform and refine sales strategies.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Finance, or a related field; an advanced degree (MBA) is a plus.
  • A minimum of 7-10 years of progressive sales management experience, ideally within the financial services or lending industry.
  • Demonstrated success in leading sales teams and consistently achieving or exceeding sales targets.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse salesforce.
  • Proven ability to build and nurture strong relationships with clients, partners, and stakeholders.
  • Experience in recruiting, training, and managing a salesforce across multiple locations.
  • Expertise in sales best practices, methodologies, and CRM tools.
  • Excellent negotiation, presentation, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to interpret complex sales data and make strategic decisions based on insights.
  • Willingness to travel as needed to support sales initiatives and engage with clients, partners, and agents.
