As Lead Social Business Sub Saharan Africa (SSA) you will be working in a globally operating team that aspire to enhance the well-being of both humans and animals in vulnerable communities,

enabling them to lead healthy lives and co-creating sustainable impact for generations.


You will be incubation and accelerating social start up`s to prepare them for investments to scale and sustain their impact full business models.

 Role & Responsibilities



  • In your new role, you contribute to Boehringer's Making More Health (MMH) ambitions 2030 to impact the lives of 50 million people and engage 20 000 employees into Making More Health.



  • As a member of the overall Sustainability Social team, you will be strongly connected to all Social Business and Sustainability initiatives.

  • You scale up and expand social business activities on grant bases, in terms of incubation and acceleration as well as sponsorships, together with partners.

  • You lead investments for our impact investment initiative “Boehringer Ingelheim Social Engagement” (BISE) into high impact social business, initially in Sub-Saharan Africa, with future geographical expansion.

  • One of your key tasks is to identify impactful social start up`s to develop them into investment targets and conduct the evaluation and due diligence for potential investments.

  • You represent BISE as an observer in the Supervisory Board of the portfolio companies on a case-to-case basis, and you guide and refine the strategy of these companies with the aim to achieve the impact target and the successful scale up of their business models.

  • By that, you contribute to the building of a highly innovative and well-balanced portfolio of companies, in line with the investment strategy.

  • You work closely with a network of likeminded partners, such as other corporates, investors, foundations, NGO´s, public sectors, to develop high and impactful alliances, together with BISE investments.

  • Furthermore, you manage the individual portfolio companies and alliances of BISE to scale up their business and achieve their impact goals.

  • Further you will represent BISE investments and strategies to key stakeholders and senior leaders.


Requirements



  • Master’s degree (e. g. MBA, MSc), preferably a field related to impact investing, e. g. finance, sustainability.

  • Several years of working experience and strong background in the field of impact investing, ideally in the target region of Sub-Sahara Africa

  • Good understanding of social start-ups, impact models, impact measurement and venture capital

  • Strong business acumen paired with very good communication, negotiation and presentation skills.

  • Strategic thinking and striving for innovation in impact financing.

  • Excellent command of the English language (written and spoken)

  • You will be located in Kenya, Nairobi
