Since 2014, Busara has evolved from a small behavioral science lab in Nairobi into a boutique research and advisory organization. Our diverse team of over 130 staff from 15+ countries has engaged in diverse projects across more than 50 countries in sectors like agriculture, health, governance and inclusive finance. While headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya, we have expanded our footprint with offices now in India, Uganda, Tanzania, Nigeria, and Latin America. 

About the role
The people and operations intern provides administrative and operational support within the people and operations teams. In this role, the intern will support our People and Operations teams, supporting their functions from talent acquisition to system support, data management, and process improvement. The intern will work alongside a dynamic team, contribute to meaningful projects, and develop skills in administration, operations, and project coordination.

Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities

    • Support in the end-to-end talent acquisition processes including including sourcing candidates, recruitment processes, and onboarding. 
    • Assist in the coordination of learning activities, ensuring successful delivery by both internal and external facilitators.
    • Provide user support for People and Operations systems, addressing queries, and escalating issues when necessary.
    • Maintain and update People and Operations databases, ensuring accurate and timely entry of required information.
    • Support data reporting and analysis for people and operations metrics, contributing insights for decision-making.
    • Coordinate the collection and collation of data from various teams ensuring consistency and accuracy.
    • Organize and maintain documentation and folders, ensuring compliance with internal knowledge management practices.
    • Provide logistical and administrative support for meetings, events, and other relevant activities including updating calendars, sharing reminders, reviewing agendas and content, and supporting necessary meeting follow-ups.
    • Collaborate with the teams to ensure the smooth functioning of day-to-day activities and other projects.
    • Assist in process improvement initiatives aimed at streamlining people and operational workflows.
    • Support administrative activities within the team as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

    • Degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration or a relevant field.
    • 6 months of experience in previous internships/work engagements in the same field is preferred.
    • Fluency in English with excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Familiarity with HR Systems, Google Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, and teleconferencing software.
    • Excellent organizational skills, and ability to multitask, prioritize, and work under tight deadlines.
    • Demonstrated ability to be proactive, solve problems, and work independently in a highly collaborative environment
    • Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in work.
    • Have a strong curiosity with the desire to learn new things and put yourself in new situations.
This is a full-time internship, is open to applicants who have a pre-existing legal right to work in Nairobi.
