Position Description


The Finance Associate will be in charge of Payables and Treasury in our Kenya Operations. In this role, the Finance Associate will be expected to interface with internal and clients (insurance companies & hospitals), suppliers, tax authorities, and other regulatory bodies.




Key Responsibilities



  • Accounts Payables management

    • Ensure that all suppliers balances are fully reconciled on an ongoing basis

    • Ensure that the balances are fully reconciled to the TB on a monthly basis and keep ageing of Payables

    • Manage correspondence with the various suppliers as the key Finance Business partner



  • Manage statutory obligations 

    • Ensure that PAYE, NHIF, NSSF, WHT, VAT and any other statutory obligations are filed and paid promptly

    • Liaise with the various statutory stakeholders in consultation with the Finance Manager to ensure that the business remains compliant and updated on any new regulations requiring financial compliance



  • Payroll Management

    • Ensure that all company’s payroll is processed within the stipulated dates

    • Ensure that all payroll reconciliations are done in respect to deductions and benefits





  • Manage treasury to ensure that the company is well liquid in order to meet all short/longterm obligations as they fall due

  • Collaborate with the Finance Associate in charge of Reporting to prepare management and Financial Accounts on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis for review by the Finance Manager

  • Maintain and control internal procedures to ensure all treasury operations are within the stipulated company policy on spend

  • Ensure all expenditure items are on the approved budget 

  • Enforce stringent measures in liaison with key parties to Maximize returns and limits risks.

  • Prepares special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends and submitting them to Finance Manager.

  • Payable management – Registration of suppliers and processing of payments for drugs supplied.

  • Treasury management - monitoring the FX rates, cash flows management, and analysis.

  • Calculation and computation of commissions payable to facilities.

  • Liaise with external auditors and regulatory examiners to ensure financials are in compliance with all applicable rules and regulations.

  • Keep abreast with current changes in accounting standards as well as regulatory environments and ensure appropriate implementations.

  • Assist  Country Finance (global and regional) with all corporate planning, research, and analyses relating to any prospective strategic initiatives.

  • Prepares store budgets in liaison with Finance Manager and Department Heads by establishing schedules; collecting, analyzing, consolidating financial data and recommending apt plans.

  • Achieves budget objectives in liaison with department Heads and General Manager by scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.

  • Any other duties as assigned by the Finance Manager.

Qualifications



  • Full CPA qualification.

  • Minimum of bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or any other related field.

  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in a supervisory position.

  • Experience in Retail will be an added advantage.
